Woodbridge Book Club – Major Pettigrew’s last stand

The Woodbridge Book club read this book at our last meeting in January and the group thoroughly enjoyed this novel by Helen Simonson.  This is a beautiful love story about two older people from different cultures, set in small town England, who slowly grow interested and affectionate towards each other.  The author touches on various themes such as inheritances, small town bigotry as well as family relationships.

The group recommends this novel by Helen Simonson.

  1. That’s fantastic that the group enjoyed the book! I really liked it too. Major Pettigrew is such a sympathetic character, and goes through such intellectual and emotional changes in the course of the story. And, I thought the supporting cast were a lot of fun as well.
