Contractor, Massive Devon has begun renovation work at Bathurst Clark Resource Library (BCRL).
Deliveries of new furniture and shelving have arrived!
Bathurst Clark Resource Library (BCRL) has been closed since Friday, June 29. In one short week, thanks to the BCRL staff and the moving company, important items were stored, furniture was taken apart, books were packed away and shelving was dismantled. A (mostly) empty building is now ready for the contractors, Massive Devon, to begin their work.
The construction of the new library adjacent to Vellore Village Community Centre continues to steadily progress.
More internal work, lighting, slatwall installation and seating, has been completed at Vellore Village Library. The entrance for both the library and the Vellore Village Community Centre are almost finished.
Great progress of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre library can be seen from the street as well as from inside. The second-floor library space has been completely glazed in as glazing continues on the upper floors of the building. Installation of the heating ducts inside the library is also progressing well.
Great things are happening at Bathurst Clark Resource Library (BCRL) as major renovations will start on June 29 with the library being closed for approximately two months, reopening in the fall.
The reno includes adding lots of comfy new chairs, study tables and a new laptop dispensing kiosk; creating a new program/meeting room and two exterior book return slots into the library; and the painting and replacing of all the carpet in the main public library space. Renovations also include the creation of a children’s space with a new storytime area and the LEARN IT! lab, a creation space offering children’s tech programs such as virtual reality, creating movies, coding all kinds of robots, building computers and many other options..
During the closure, customers may return library materials to any VPL branch. Customers may also renew their items online. Holds identified for BCRL pick-up will automatically be transferred to Dufferin Clark Library. For your convenience, library hours at Dufferin Clark Library are being extended as of July 3 for the duration of the renovation:
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9 am. to 5 p.m.
Customers who wish to pick up their holds elsewhere or who wish to deactivate their holds during the renovation can do so online by accessing their library account. For assistance on how to deactivate or modify your holds pick-up location, contact the Service Desk.
Progress on the highly-anticipated Vellore Village Library is increasingly noticeable. The installation of the external aluminum composite metal panels on the east, north and west elevations is nearly completed. Substantial progress has been made on ceiling works including installation of ceiling tiles and ceiling-mounted lighting systems. Painting and carpet installation have also been completed. Millwork items, such as desk and wall applications, will be installed next.
Photos of smiling customers now decorate an interior window at Maple Library.
The large interior window between the daycare and the library consists of ten smaller panes, each 3’ x 3’. Using an opaque, adhesive-backed vinyl to cover the window, the design is comprised of the happy faces of the library’s actual customers, on the top row with a beautiful swirl of colour on the bottom row that transforms the area behind the new Service Desk into a vibrant, inviting area.
