Woodbridge Library’s renovation project is well underway. Here is a sneak peek at what’s happening at Woodbridge.
Construction continues at Pleasant Ridge this week. The granular fill is in progress. Trenching for electrical rough-in and underground electrical rough-in are done. The electrical underground conduit has also been installed.
Customers, trustees of the Vaughan Public Library Board and staff joined us for cake and refreshments on May 6 to celebrate the reopening of Dufferin Clark Library, 1441 Clark Avenue West.
Dufferin Clark Library’s renovations included combining the old Information Desk and Circulation Desk into one Service Desks, which offers a central service point for those customers seeking information, reference service or assistance from staff. The Self Check Out station has been relocated the front of the library, making it easy for customers to check out items by themselves. A number of new merchandising furniture have been added to the front of the library to display some of the great collections Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) has, giving customers a great browsing experience and helping make it easy for them to choose their next reads.
The old reading area has been relocated to the atrium. Customers can now enjoy quiet reading in comfortable seating with ample natural lighting from the skylight. New carpet has been installed at the atrium.
Finally, the program room has been given a fresh new look. It now has beautiful double glass doors, new carpet and paint, new slat walls for displaying art as well as a new projection system.
The renovations that have been completed are in accordance with VPL’s Strategic Plan, Empower People, Inspire Opportunities, Build Communities, 2013-2015 which identifies VPL’s commitment to enhancing library space, creating welcoming environments that become exciting and vibrant destinations that appeal to customers of all ages.
