Children's Author Visit

Mackenzie Health Vaughan Library

Wednesday, November 13, 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Bestselling children's author Ruth Ohi showcases how to create a children's picture book from concept to illustration.

In this one-hour workshop, Ruth uses samples from her books to share the steps to take when creating a picture book. Young readers experience where stories can come from and, through an interactive drawing demonstration, how characters are developed and how scribbles and basic shapes can grow a story. Students suggest big feelings and characters, settings and plot points which result in creating a visual story together. This can be used as a springboard for their own stories. Includes a hands-on drawing segment. Perfect for school-aged children.
