Civic Life in Canada Information Night is a community-focused event designed to increase understanding of civic rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for engagement in Canada. Through short presentations and discussions, participants will learn about voting, local government, volunteering, and the range of services and supports available through local organizations. The event provides a welcoming space for residents to ask questions and gain practical, locally relevant knowledge about how civic systems work.
The program is especially intended for newcomers, immigrants, youth, and first-time voters who may be unfamiliar with Canadian civic processes. By bringing together representatives from municipal government, Elections Ontario, libraries, and settlement agencies, the event aims to build confidence, strengthen community connections, and encourage meaningful participation in democratic and civic life ahead of the 2026 municipal election.
