2023

Awarded by the American Library Association, the PR Xchange Awards Competition recognizes the very best public relations materials produced by libraries. Vaughan Public Libraries won awards in three categories: Advocacy / Fundraising / Annual Reports, and Strategic Plans; Special Events; and Virtual Exhibits.

Awarded by the Ontario Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, the Ontario Public Library Service Awards identify and promote creative public library service ideas. The Angus Mowat Award of Excellence recognizes a commitment to excellence in the delivery of public library service.

Awarded by the Ontario Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, the Ontario Public Library Service Awards identify and promote creative public library service ideas. The Minister's Award for Innovation recognizes successful new approaches that demonstrate a positive impact in a community and are of continued value to public libraries.

Awarded by the Ontario Public Library Association, the James Bain Medallion is awarded to a library board member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in governing a public library in Ontario.

Awarded by the Ontario Library Boards’ Association, the W.J. Robertson Medallion is presented to a public librarian who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of public library service in Ontario.

Awarded by the City of Vaughan, the Vaughan Urban Design Awards recognize and promote local development initiatives that exemplify excellence in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, public art and environmental stewardship within Vaughan.

2022

Awarded by L'Association des bibliothèques de l'Ontario-Franco, the Micheline-Persaud Award is intended to honour a person, group or institution who have distinguished themselves in the development and promotion of French-language library services in Ontario.

Le Prix Micheline-Persaud est un prix destiné à honorer une personne, un groupe ou une institution qui s'est distingué dans le développement et la promotion des services de bibliothèque en français en Ontario.

 

2021

Awarded by the Urban Libraries Council, this award is given to public libraries for transformative programs that address structural racism, bridge digital divides, provide lifelong education opportunities, meet the needs of under-resourced populations and improve essential library service delivery.

Awarded by the Ontario Library Boards’ Association, this award is given to a Public Library Board, or two Public Library Boards that participated in a collaborative effort, that has demonstrated a high level of collaboration and innovation to produce outstanding results.

In 2021, this award was given to all library boards across Ontario.

 

2019

Awarded by the Ontario Library Boards’ Association, this award is given to a Public Library Board, or two Public Library Boards that participated in a collaborative effort, that has demonstrated a high level of collaboration and innovation to produce outstanding results.

Awarded by the Ontario Library Association, this award is given for new library buildings in Ontario that showcase excellence in design.

The City of Vaughan was recognized by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario for using the federal Gas Tax Fund to improve energy-efficiency at the Civic Centre Resource Library helping it to achieve a LEED Silver certification.

 

2018

Awarded by the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction, this award is given to celebrate excellence in steel design for buildings or other structures in which architectural considerations predominantly influenced the design of the structure.

Awarded by the Ontario Public Works Association, this award recognizes excellence in the management and administration of public works projects.

Awarded by the American Library Association and the International Interior Design Association, this award honours international excellence in library interior design for public libraries over 30,000 square feet.

 

2003

Awarded by the Ontario Library Boards’ Association, the W.J. Robertson Medallion is presented to a public librarian who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of public library service in Ontario.

Awarded by the Ontario Library and Information Technology Association, this award recognizes a project that demonstrates leadership in the application of technology to benefit library users, enhance library operations, and extend partnerships.
