Volunteer Opportunities

Vaughan Public Libraries occasionally offers volunteer opportunities to those looking to help others in their community. Volunteers must have completed grade 8 and be a minimum of 14 years of age to apply. Volunteers must also submit two reference letters and successfully complete an interview. Any volunteer that is 18 years of age or older is required to obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

Chess Club Volunteer Opportunity

Chess Club returns this fall at Dufferin Clark(Tuesday evenings), Maple (Thursday evenings), and Vellore Village (Saturday afternoons) branches. Chess Club volunteers work with participating children to instruct in playing chess or improving their game.

Our Chess Club volunteers are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Chess. This program runs in association with local non-profit Chess in the Library and volunteers apply through them. Select "New Volunteers Form" at the link if you have never volunteered with Chess in the Library before: Apply for Chess Club on external site. Volunteers must have completed Grade 8 and be 14+. Adult volunteers are welcome and encouraged to apply.

ESL Cafe Volunteers - In Person at VMC

Help newcomers to Canada improve their English conversation skills. Must be 18 years of age or older. Current volunteer opportunities are in person.
