Citizen Science: FluWatchers
  • A medical expert will discuss influenza and how you can help scientists monitor the spread of flu-like illnesses across Canada. Session is hosted live on Zoom. Register on Eventbrite.

Dr. Miles Smith is a family doctor who works in northwest Toronto, and has experience with diverse populations including newcomers to Canada and members of the LGBTQ2S+ community.

The FluWatchers is an important participatory (crowdsourced) syndromic surveillance system program. This program relies on Canadian volunteers, like you, to report symptoms of cough or fever to scientists and health officials by completing a quick and easy questionnaire each week. The more volunteers that participate, the more data the scientists will be able to analyze and provide accurate information on where influenza and COVID-19 may be circulating in the community.
