Passport to Vaughan: Sicilian Food Culture
  • Join author Fina Scroppo as she takes us on a journey into Sicilian food history & culture, complete with a demo & sampling of caponata! Registration is $7 on Eventbrite.

    Leaning on her Sicilian roots, Fina loves sharing about the island’s vibrant’s food history and culture. In this program, you’ll hear about how the combination of cultural influences have shaped what is served in Sicily today. Fina will also prepare a tasting of a Sicilian favourite: Caponata.

    Fina Scroppo is the author of The Healthy Italian and an award-winning writer and editor. She is passionate about heritage cooking, nutrition and healthy living. Her recipes and cooking prowess have been featured on numerous TV shows, radio programs, and in magazines and newspapers across the country. Over the past 25 years, she’s enjoyed working with some of the most successful cookbook authors and produced special-interest cooking publications that have featured the works of many celebrity chefs.

    The room capacity is limited. All individuals planning to be inside the kitchen during the program must be registered as a participant. This includes any adult accompanying a child. Please contact the VMC service desk if you have questions.

    We are a nut-aware space and do not use nuts in our programming, but we cannot guarantee a nut-free facility. Please alert us of any allergies when registering on Eventbrite. Our kitchen programs are held in the VSES Teaching Kitchen, located on the third floor.
